CHALLENGE: The visual identity for an event celebrating and protecting the biodiversity of a vacant lot, la friche, through community action. The program included gardening, conversations on eco-gentrification, cyanotypes of local flora, among many other activities.

The event aimed to engage more local families, children, and people unfamiliar with la friche, making the site’s biodiversity and its role in the community more accessible.

SOLUTION: The identity imagines the biodiversity of la friche as a community defending its home. Cut-paper illustrations of snails, worms, bees, and local flowers gather together, each carrying a protest sign.

The garden becomes a living protest. Every flower planted and habitat protected is an act of resistance to the site’s demolition for industrial development. Because these species cannot speak for themselves, the community becomes their voice. As the garden grows, so does the protest.
