CHALLENGE: How dedicate myself to the work of dismantling my own internalized racism as a first step towards racial justice, without losing momentum to the busyness of daily life.
SOLUTION: Organizing a discussion group in collaboration with the West-Island Black Community Association of Montreal. This book-club-style group is for white folks and those who have not experienced being part of a minority group to invest in listening BIPOC voices in anti-racism literature, films, podcasts, etc. with the ultimate goal of empowering the lives of Black, Indigenous and people of color. This group meets monthly and is supported by a parallel group, comprised of people of colour, reading the same book along side of us.
